          Shilpa Shetty was born on June 8, 1975, in Tamil Nadu, India, to former models Surendra and Sunanda Shetty.

          She has a younger sister, Shamita Shetty, who is also an actress. Shilpa grew up in Mumbai, where she attended Chembur High School and later Podar College in Matunga. An accomplished athlete, she was the captain of her school's volleyball team and earned a black belt in karate.

          Modeling and Early Acting Career

          At the age of 15, Shetty aspired to become a model, but her height and weight did not meet industry standards at the time.

          However, at 17, she landed a lead role in the incomplete film "Gaata Rahe Mera Dil." She was subsequently offered a role in the hit film "Baazigar" (1993) alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Kaj
